Our vineyards and tasting room are located in Southern Oregon, just 2 miles from downtown Ashland.  We originally purchased the property in 1997 and dabbled in a little farming; Echinacea, oats, late maturing pasture grasses and the like.  Only in 2005 did we begin in earnest to explore the idea of "raising" a vineyard.

With great advice from local experts and our initial consulting vineyard manager, we were able to determine the best use and to maximize the functionality of our soils, terrain, slope and the sun’s directional coverage, anticipated weather impacts and other concerns.  We selected three unique varietals; Tempranillo, Malbec and Viognier and planted the original vineyard in 2006.  We expanded that acreage to 15 by planting Sauvignon Blanc, Mourvedre and Carmenere in 2010, and then adding a new white varietal, Verdejo, and a new red, Tannat, in June of 2015. We hope to plant the remaining 8 acres over the next 3 to 5 years.

Initially, grapes were sold to Schmidt Family Vineyards as we appreciated their desire to produce quality, stand alone varietals. This allowed us to continue to grow and learn the intricacies of the winegrowing industry.  Schmidt Family Vineyards produced our original vintages including award winning 2008 and 2009 Tempranillo and Malbec.  They also produced the original “Vionillo” (2007 and 2008) and part of our 2009 Viognier.
In 2009, we also contracted with Linda Donovan, Pallet Wine Company, to make the majority of our wines. Linda continues to make the majority of our white wines and our small lot red. Linda's desire to maintain the natural aspects of the fruit and let the grapes define the wine quality has intrigued us,and we will retain that style in the near future.

Pat and Paula have both recently "retired" from professional careers and are now enjoying the opportunity to spend quality time together literally watching and participating in the fruits of their labor. Committed to the highest quality fruit and long term stability, both have remained active in the vineyard which helps them understand the needs of the vines, vineyard maintenance, the requirement and timing to drop fruit, thereby maximize the brix (sugar content), pH and acidity for the best possible grape harvest.

What's in a Name ~ We incorporated both of our names, Patrick Dana Flannery and Paula Campbell Brown, for the vineyard and wines: DANA CAMPBELL VINEYARDS
